Microids has announced that The House of the Dead: Remake will be getting a limited edition physical release later this year.
Appropriately dubbed the “Limidead Edition”, this limited edition version of the game comes with an exclusive holographic (or lenticular) box, two character stands, stickers, and, of course, the base game.

We'll be honest, it's a slightly underwhelming limited edition, but then that's fairly appropriate for what ended up as a slightly underwhelming game. We thought that developer Forever Entertainment actually did a decent job upgrading The House of the Dead for modern consoles, but the lack of a decent control scheme let the whole game down. I always appreciate every single physical release, even if I absolutely don't care about the game like in this case.
That's the reason why I'm super excited that Limited Run Games will be releasing titles for Xbox now, even if I have to pay A LOT for shipping and import taxes to Europe.
In my opinion the digital only trend is nothing else but sad. Nowadays - at least here in Germany - you hardly can find any shops that still are selling games for Xbox, besides maybe Fifa and CoD. And I live in a town with 300K citizens.
The only way to get games now is to buy online. The joy of going into a shop, buying game that was hyped by myself and looking forward to play it on the way home mostly isn't possible any longer. We're living in strange times. Sad.
