Bandai Namco has announced that the Gundam Evolution Closed Network Test is due to go live on consoles today for select players in the US and Canada. And, if you'd like to get better acquainted with the basics of the mecha-based shooter, the new beginner's guide trailer will see you right.

A team-based 6v6 free-to-play first-person shooter set within the popular Gundam multiverse, Gundam Evolution features an array of playable mobile suits, three objective-based modes to choose from (Point Capture, Domination, and Destruction), and a set of challenges that revolve around teams executing offensive and defensive strategies.

The Gundam Evolution Closed Network Test commences on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 from 7 pm PT tonight, running through 6 am PT on 28th June. If you've yet to sign up to take part, you can try your luck here from now until 25th June. You can find out more in the ‘How to Play Gundam Evolution: Game Mode Introduction’ video below.

  • I've played 6 hours of it and HUGE WARNING! There is only RANKED matches available and there is an EXTREME PENALTY system in place. I've disconnected from 3 matches, 1 network error and 2 of my own disconnects. I was penalized 5 minutes, then 1 hour and 30 minutes, and my last was 4 hours and 30 minutes. Very ridiculous and stupid to put in a BETA test. No mention of a CASUAL/CUSTOM/UNRANKED option for the full game.
