Bandai Namco has announced PAC-MAN World Re-PAC, a remake of the PS1 platformer PAC-MAN World.
First released in 1999, PAC-MAN World was the arcade icon's first hop into the realm of 3D platforming, and it was a pretty good first attempt at that. This remake includes improved AI, updated visuals, more intuitive gameplay, and a wider viewing perspective.
The game, which was released to celebrate PAC-MAN's 20th anniversary, sees PAC-MAN arriving home on his birthday to discover that the ghosts have kidnapped his family and friends. PAC-MAN will have to face off against the ghosts, as well as a giant robot lookalike, in order to save them.
“Many fans remember when PAC-MAN went 3D, adding a whole new dimension to the signature fun game play and whimsical world that he represents, and we’re bringing that experience to this generation of gaming with PAC-MAN World Re-PAC,” said PAC-MAN senior brand director Susan Tran. “PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC is classic and fun platformer action with a PAC-MAN twist, with our hero chomping his way through colourful levels filled with a variety of chills and thrills as he chases the Ghosts to rescue his kidnapped family.”
You can check out the game in action in the announcement trailer down below. PAC-MAN World Re-PAC launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 26th August 2022.
