SEGA has dropped a whole bunch of new details on Sonic Frontiers during today's Nintendo Direct, showcasing the new Cyber Space area and a Titan boss, within the game's open world Starfall Islands. The story sees Sonic journeying to the islands with Amy Rose and Tails in search of Chaos Emeralds, when they're sucked into a dimensional portal.

Upon entering the portal, Sonic finds himself alone in the Cyber Space, which he subsequently escapes to Kronos Island, one of the Starfall Islands. Kronos is full of strange enemies and ancient ruins, as well as numerous puzzles, and ancient inhabitants known as the 'Koco'. From here, you can then travel through entrances to visit Cyber Space, completing challenges to earn Vault Keys vital to progress.

Sonic Frontiers includes “high-speed” open-zone platforming gameplay, with combat, puzzles, and side quests, as well as Cyber Space segments and character conversations. Sonic also has a new ‘Cycloop’ ability, enabling the blue blur to form a band of light in his wake, surrounding enemies, items, and areas to create various effects, like unlocking secrets.

Featuring the option to play the game with an ‘Action Style’ or ‘High Speed Style’ - the former offering more precise platforming for new players, the latter offering breakneck speed suitable for players well-versed in Sonic games - Sonic Frontiers will seemingly have plenty to offer when it launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in ‘holiday 2022’.
