The Chant Gameplay Reveal Trailer Takes a Terrifying Turn For the Weird

A new gameplay reveal trailer for developer Brass Token's upcoming third-person horror game, The Chant, has been released today, showcasing the game's remote island retreat of Glory Island, where you visit to let go of the baggage from your past, and cleanse your spirit of negative energy or something.

At the Prismic Science Spiritual Retreat, you'll join a group in a ritualistic chant, which, of course, goes horribly wrong, opening up "a dimension of cosmic terror". Your survival will hinge upon unravelling a cult mystery from the past and in the present, as the others gradually go mad, thanks to a host of parasitic creatures that prey on your fears.

Only by balancing mind, body, and spirit, will you make it out alive. Also, by fleeing or choosing to fight, using spiritual weapons and abilities to seal The Gloom, and escape Glory Island. Promising an “off-kilter mix of 1970s cult horror and New Age spirituality,” according to Creative Director Mike Skupa, The Chant sounds intriguing.

You can take your first proper look at The Chant, which is due to release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year, in the new story trailer below.

  • So they basically made a game about Charlie Manson but mixed in some weird lore so they can get away with it.

Dude even looks like him exactly, clothes and all.

Gotta say though, I’m pretty intrigued by it either way.
