Bandai Namco has officially announced My Hero Ultra Rumble, a battle royale based on the popular My Hero Academia series, for a western release.

First announced for Japan earlier this year as My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble, the game will see eight different teams of superpowered trios battling it out across expansive citywide maps. Players will take control of classic My Hero Academia characters, such as the explosive Dynamight or towering giantess Mount Lady, and use their Quirks to attack other players or protect their teammates. Players can also rescue civilians as heroes (or intimidate them as villains) and grab powerful items in the process.

“The world of My Hero and its colourful cast of Heroes, Villains, and their Quirks provide the perfect setting for a fun and frenzied free-to-play Battle Royale experience that remains faithful to the series’ themes and strengths,” said producer Aoba Miyazaki. “We’re eager to share our take on team-based Heroes vs. Villains gameplay through our first Closed Beta test, and we can’t wait to work with the community to make My Hero Ultra Rumble a thrilling Battle Royale experience for fans and players of online multiplayer games.”

Bandai Namco is running a closed beta for My Hero Ultra Rumble next month, although it will only be available on PlayStation consoles.

My Hero Ultra Rumble is launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check out the announcement trailer down below.
