The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience offered a startling look at Epic's impressive next-gen Unreal Engine 5 when it launched as a free demo for Xbox Series X|S in December, but soon, it'll be permanently removed from digital storefronts. In fact, you've only a few days left to download it, if you fancy exploring its green-tinted cityscape.
“Not explored The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience yet? There's still time! The UE5 tech demo will only be available in stores until July 9,” Epic Games announced on the official site for the demo. "Download it before that date and you'll still be able to access the demo going forward - or re-download it if you've deleted it from your console."
No reason was given for the impending removal of The Matrix Awakens, although licensing issues seem like a fairly safe bet. It's certainly well worth downloading and taking for a spin, if you haven't already, since it offers a look at “the future of interactive storytelling”, with some startlingly realistic visuals.
Written by The Matrix co-creator and The Matrix Resurrections director Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience also features Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, alongside your human resistance fighter, locked in an action-packed pursuit from Agents. Following the sequence, you're then free to explore.
You can download The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience for Xbox Series X|S here, until it's removed on 9th July.
