Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco has been hit by a ransomware attack, according to a report from malware tracker vx-underground(via VGC).
According to a post from vx-underground, self described as “the largest collection of malware source code, samples, and papers on the internet”, Bandai Namco has been targeted by ransomware group ALPHV (aka BlackCat).
Ransomware groups typically gain access to a company's internal files, blocking off access to them and threatening to release them publicly if a ransom is not paid.
CD Projekt, the studio behind The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, was targeted by a ransomware attack last year, but announced that it would “not give in to the demands nor negotiate” with the party responsible, despite them claiming to have stolen the source code for CD Projekt's biggest titles.
Bandai Namco has yet to comment publicly on the report.
