WB Games has announced that the MultiVersus Open Beta is due to commence later this month, with Early Access available from next week, to anyone who participated in the Closed Alpha or redeemed a code via Twitch Drops, for the upcoming free-to-play Smash Bros.-style fighting game.
The Open Beta will offer full cross-play support on all platforms, as well as dedicated server-based rollback netcode for “robust online competition”. Eight different maps will also feature, taking you to locations like the Batcave, Scooby's Haunted Mansion, and the Tree Fort from Adventure Time, with modes encompassing 2v2 battles, 1v1 matches, 4-player free-for-all, co-op versus AI match-ups, and custom online lobbies.
Additionally, you'll be able to hone your skills in The Lab practice mode, tutorials, and local play matches for up to four players. You can take a look at MultiVersus in the videos below, which include a first look at Iron Giant gameplay, as well as an introduction to the upcoming Open Beta.
A total of sixteen characters will feature in MultiVersus, including DC's Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn; Shaggy and Velma from the Scooby-Doo series; Looney Tunes icons Bugs Bunny and Tasmanian Devil; Arya Stark from Game of Thrones); Tom & Jerry; Jake the Dog and Finn the Human from Adventure Time; Steven Universe and Garnet; and a new original creature named Reindog.
Early Access to the MultiVersus Open Beta kicks off on 19th July across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, before the floodgates open to all players from 26th July.
