Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is still in development, Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester has confirmed.

Replying to to query from a Twitter user asking if Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 had been cancelled, Wester responded that “Bloodlines 2 is in development and we will let you know more when we are ready”.

“The game is in good hands and we look forward to showing you more when the team and the game is ready,” Wester went on to confirm.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was first announced back in 2019, but appeared to be stuck in development hell until 2021, when publisher Paradox Interactive removed studio Hardsuit Lab as lead developer. The game has since been moved to a new studio, although Paradox has said that it will likely be a while until this new developer is announced, to avoid fans reaching out to them.

Wester previously revealed that Bloodlines 2 was very nearly cancelled, but the publisher was suitably impressed with a pitch from this mysterious new studio, and decided to hand the reins over to them. Recent rumours suggest that this studio will be Dear Esther and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture developer The Chinese Room, working under Sumo Digital, although nothing has yet been officially confirmed.

  • The first Bloodlines was a deeply flawed masterpiece, but a masterpiece nevertheless. Fingers crossed that the mystery dev is up to the task. I really hope they don't mess this up. Easily one of my most anticipated games.
  • This game is going to become the next Dead Island 2, which strangely enough also passed hands to Sumo Digital
