Hello Games is today launching the new Endurance update for No Man's Sky, the twentieth update for the game, following this year's Sentinel and and Outlaws updates, as well as May's roguelike survival-based Leviathan Expedition. This latest update introduces overhauled freighter customisation.

That means you'll now be able to deck out your colossal vessels to transform them into proper space-faring bases, replete with scanner rooms, shopfronts, planters, refiners, extractors, and myriad other accoutrements for your capital ship. You can map out configure your freighter base in a variety of styles, encompassing glass corridors, interior and exterior catwalks,  as well as new hangar and bridge effects.

Once you've finished furnishing your freighter, you can recruit crew members to keep your base ticking over, while getting transporting yourself up to it has been simplified now that you can set  up teleportation nodes anywhere on the ship. From the massive glass bay windows or an outside platform, you can then gaze out at the stars and planets, or admire the new asteroid fields, which have been made more dense and “visually exciting”.

Endurance is out now for No Man's Sky, as the game celebrates almost four years on Xbox and six years on PlayStation and PC. You can check out the update in the trailer below.

  • I played this at launch on PS4 and liked it then. There is so much to this game now I really need to go back and play. I won't know what I'm even doing!
