Former Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 devs unveil Dark Passenger studio

Ben Borthwick

Dark Passenger has been unveiled as a new studio based in Poland, with the team already working on their first game.

As revealed on Twitter earlier this week (and pointed out by Shinobi602 on Twitter) - the outfit is comprised of both industry veterans and some new faces. Of the former, members of the team have worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.

The studio's new website also notes that the team is already working on its first game. While it doesn't have a title yet, the team say they're building "a captivating, dark world full of mysteries, extraordinary characters and tense conflicts that are consuming the Land of the Rising Sun.”

The unnamed game will use a first person perspective, and include co-op as well as online PvP and PvE multiplayer. It'll also use Unreal Engine 5. The devs boast it'll include some form of procedural generation, and players will be able to run around, climb on vertical surfaces with Shuko claws and even use a Yari spear to jump over obstacles.

There'll be plenty of era-appropriate weapons like katanas, shuriken and throwing knives, and players will also be able to create their own dojo to practice with these weapons either alone or with friends.

There's no ETA for this mysterious game yet, but it'll release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC when it does. Hopefully, we'll hear more soon.

  • "The unnamed game will use a first person perspective"

That's when they lost my interest.
  • Why? They showed they can pull it off with amazing results in cyberpunk? But can they beat Ghost of Tsushima overall greatness? That is something I wouldn’t put past CDPR;-)
  • Why not? I just don't care for first perspective games.
  • That’s fair but to miss out on so many incredible games. I feel the pain!
