EA and Codemasters have confirmed that cross-play is coming to F1 22 this month, with full integration planned for the end of August, following two trial beta sessions available in the game's Social Race and Two-Player Career modes, across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

“Cross-play brings all our players together and allows them to settle the score of who is the best driver across all platforms,” said Creative Director Lee Mather, of the oft-requested feature. "Cross-play also allows us to create better matchmaking opportunities so players can compete against rival racers with similar attributes."

The two separate F1 22 Cross-Play Beta Sessions will commence on 5th August and run until 7th August, with the second trial to take place from 12th to 14th August on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Upon its arrival in F1 22, cross-play can be turned on and off, or switched to the same platform family, and when activated will improve matchmaking and enable players to race together, regardless of platform.

F1 22 also received the new Portimao circuit this week, with China's Shanghai International Circuit to follow on 12th September.
