Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, a full remake and rewrite of the 2007 Lovecraftian horror adventure featuring the iconic sleuth, has today gone live with its Kickstarter campaign, alongside a reveal trailer and substantial video update from Ukrainian developer Frogwares.

In the reveal trailer, you can see the same young Holmes from Sherlock Holmes Chapter One teaming up with Watson, as they run for their lives. In the wake of a 'misunderstanding', the detective duo see themselves hunted by the New Orleans Sheriffs' Department, leading them into dark swampland, in which all is not quite as it seems.

The Kickstarter for The Awakened will come with digital rewards for backers, which will be made available for all players to purchase in the future. However, backers will receive the content first and at a substantial discount. As for the game itself, The Awakened is billed as “Cthulhu meets Sherlock Holmes”, and a continuation of young Sherlock's story, as he takes on his first major case with Dr. John Watson.

Meanwhile, a cult obsessed with the Eldritch god makes moves in the shadows, in a bid to ignite a deadly prophecy that could inexorably alter the world. Sherlock and Watson are the only ones who can stop the cult's plans, although with their grip on reality increasingly fragile, and horrors preying on your fears and traumas, the case won't be any easy one to solve.

Frogwares is aiming to release Sherlock Holmes The Awakened for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC around mid-2023,  You can watch the reveal trailer and developer update video, explaining how the studio is dealing with the ongoing situation in Ukraine, below.
