Rhythm roguelike game Crypt of the Necrodancer is getting a huge DLC expansion, adding in new characters, online multiplayer, plus loads of new content.
The new SYNCHRONY DLC is currently available on PC in early access, and developer Brace Yourself Games has confirmed to us that it plans to port the DLC to consoles.
“The DLC is currently in early access and we are still working on more content, but once we’re finished, we want to port SYNCHRONY to consoles,” said a statement from the developer. “We don’t have a timeframe for that yet though.”
Klarinetta, Chaunter, and Suzu make up the three new characters coming to the DLC, each with their own unique playstyle. Klarinetta wields a Zweihänder, a huge and heavy sword that occupies the tile next to her and acts as a barrier, while Suzu uses the Lance of Courage, which allows her to dash through enemies in a straight line. Meanwhile, Chaunter can possess enemies, copying their damage, health, and abilities for a short time.
The new online multiplayer offers both co-op and versus modes, with support for up to eight players at once, utilising rollback netcode. There's even hybrid online and local support, with up to four players able to play locally, and then connect online.
To read about all of the new additions and changes coming in SYNCHRONY, you can check out the patch notes here. Do be aware, however, that the DLC is currently in early access, so some of these details could change by the time SYNCHRONY comes to consoles.
The SYNCHRONY DLC trailer also teased a brand new standalone rhythm game in the Necrodancer universe, titled Rift of the Necrodancer, although there's no confirmation of platforms as of yet. You can watch the full trailer down below.
