Bandai Namco has briefly teased the next Tekken game at EVO 2022.
The seconds-long teaser announcement came at the end of a trailer announcing a free update for Tekken 7. Towards the end of the video, we see a clip from the original Tekken game, of Kazuya throwing Heihachi off of a cliff. As the camera pans in closer for Kazuya's iconic smile, the clip suddenly cuts to a more modern version of Kazuya, followed by two words - get ready. You can see it for yourself at around 1:40 in the video below.
The tease sent the EVO commentators wild, and Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada even showed up on the official stream, shaking the commentators in excitement, but refusing to elaborate further on the tease.
Tekken 7 first released on Xbox One back in June 2017, and has been going strong ever since, becoming the best-selling entry in the series. Is now the time for Tekken 8, then? Hopefully we'll be seeing more soon.
