THQ Nordic has officially announced Alone in the Dark, a modern reimagining of the 1992 PC game of the same name.
Set in the deep south in the 1920s, Alone in the Dark will see you playing as private investigator Edward Carnby, as well as Emily Hartwood, who's uncle has gone missing. The investigation takes the two of them to Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally ill, where you'll encounter nightmarish realms and dangerous monsters.
1992's Alone in the Dark is considered by many to be the original survival horror game, releasing years before games like Clock Tower and Resident Evil, and the name game is described by THQ Nordic as a “love letter to the 90’s cult classic horror game”.
The game's story is being written by Mikael Hedberg, of SOMA and Amnesia fame, while the soundtrack incorporates elements of 1920s jazz, with a horror twist. The game was leaked ahead of its announcement last week, with the official details matching up to the leak.
“Return to the roots of psychological horror and experience an atmospheric journey worthy of the game that started the genre,” says THQ Nordic.
You can check out the first trailer down below. Alone in the Dark is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
