Elden Ring has sold a total of 16.6 million copies worldwide, according to Bandai Namco's latest financial report. (via gamebiz.jp)

The latest game from developer FromSoftware launched in February earlier this year, and by the end of March, had sold 13.4 million. The new report shows that Elden Ring has gone on to sell another 3.2 million units between April and June 2022, bringing the total to 16.6 million by the end of June 2022.

For context, it took Dark Souls III about four years to hit 10 million copies sold, while the Dark Souls series as a whole has sold 27 million units in total. It seems unlikely that Elden Ring will overtake Dark Souls as a franchise by itself, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it eventually break the 20 million mark, especially with the rise in digital sales giving games a longer tail than in previous years.

  • Guess that should cover the cost of a DLC or two, huh?
