EA has announced that Madden NFL 23 has launched today, as the beginning of the 2022 NFL season looms. Featuring legendary coach, broadcaster, and coach John Madden himself as cover star, the latest entry in the football series features the new FieldSense gameplay system on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, for a “consistent, ultra-realistic” game of 11v11 football.
New animation branching technology under the umbrella of ‘Hit Everything’ also aims to “redefine” defensive interactions, while new mechanics include 360 Cuts, so ball-carrying players can change direction on a dime; and Skill Based Passing allows for greater control over the ball, so you can place it exactly where you want.
Additionally, improvements to core gameplay systems, alongside balance upgrades to defensive coverages, the pass rush, and containing mobile quarterbacks all promise to provide the best game of football to date. New player body types, new player and coach likenesses, rebuilt gear, and other enhancements round out this year's offering.
Madden NFL 23 is out today for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, and you can check out the new launch trailer below.
