Halo Infinite Last Spartan Standing Mode to be Replaced by Team Doubles From Today

343 Industries has confirmed that today will see Season Two's Last Spartan Standing dropped from Halo Infinite's Multiplayer playlist, making way for Team Doubles as its replacement, available via ranked mode matchmaking.

The studio is also changing how its algorithms matchmake players based upon skill, hopefully leading to improvements and accuracy in Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR). Anyone player whose CSR is markedly higher or lower than other players, will be unable to join ranked games in a party, evening the playing field.

As well as Team Doubles replacing the small-scale battle royale-style Last Spartan Standing in Halo Infinite Social Playlists, a CSR reset will take place, as 343 temporarily takes down Ranked modes for scheduled maintenance. Upon completion of maintenance, Ranked Doubles and Ranked Arena will be available to play in Multiplayer.

As for the fate of Last Spartan Standing, whether it'll one day return is anyone's guess. “As with all playlists, we will continue to monitor their individual health in addition to the health of the entire matchmaking experience,” the developer explained.

"If all these playlists perform well, we will continue experimenting with adding or rotating more playlists in the future."

Halo Infinite is available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, and you can read our review here.
