Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios has revealed that Dead Island 2 has a release date, at long last, showcasing the game in a CG trailer and some new gameplay. Not skimping on the gore and dismemberment, the new Dead Island 2 gameplay showcases the game's devastated Los Angeles setting, and its cast of zombie slayers.

Whichever of Dead Island 2's six unique characters you choose to play as (with co-op support for up to three players), you've been bitten and infected, but your immunity has only served to boost your strength. As such, you'll be able to harness the virus in your veins, and paint the streets of LA red, as you search for the truth behind the outbreak from Beverly Hills to Venice Beach.

Featuring brutal first-person melee combat and a large-scale RPG sandbox to explore, as well as an extensive suite of weapons and customisation options, skill trees, instant ability re-spec so you can try different builds, and dozens of zombie types, Dead Island 2 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 3rd February 2023. Check out the new videos below.

  • I just hope it's more polished towards either single player or co-op. The first game felt like a weird mix of both that left every enemy a damage sponge and you feeling malaise before the game even ended.
  • I just hope it has a better launch than Dying Light 2 did. But with Dambuster being in charge, I dont have high hopes.
