Billed as a ‘fishing adventure’ with a sinister undercurrent, Dredge is due to release for consoles and PC in 2023, developed by New Zealand studio Black Salt Games and published by Team17.
A single-player, narrative-driven affair, Dredge puts you in the boots of a down-on-their-luck fisherman, and has you exploring a series of remote isles, trawling the depths for fish and curious deep-sea treasures. Once your fishing boat has been filled, you'll be able to sell your haul to the strange locals, while completing quests and unearthing secrets.
Your profits can then be put towards reinforcing your trawler, as you research special equipment and gain new upgrades; while you're also able to acquire new skills and knowledge to take you to more secluded lands, where you can dredge even deeper. The more you upgrade your boat, the more unique fish you'll be able to catch, and more inhabitants you'll be able to meet amid the islands of ‘The Marrows’.
Dredge will be trawling the depths on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023. Check out the announcement trailer below.
