In September, Ubisoft will be holding a major Assassin's Creed event, which could see an official announcement for the next entry in the storied series, as it celebrates fifteen years. Rumour has it that 2023's Assassin's Creed Mirage (formerly referred to as 'AC Rift') will be set in Baghdad and feature AC Valhalla's Basim, while a new report has offered further potential details.
Outed by YouTuber, j0nathan, the latest details are apparently partly true, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, and include insights like the game being a “return to basics” for Assassin's Creed, with the levelling system from Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, is reportedly being ditched. Schreier notes, however, that rumours that the new game will have “multiple cities to explore” is not true.
A younger version of Basim will reportedly appear in the game as the protagonist, during the late 800s. RPG elements like dialogue choices and the option to choose character gender (Basim is male, within AC canon) will also be nixed, and the game's Season Pass may also even include a remake of the original 2007 Assassin's Creed starring Altair. A Constantinople DLC for AC Mirage is also said to be in the offing.
Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed Infinity is also in the pipeline for 2024, meaning that Assassin's Creed Mirage will seemingly fill the gap upon its rumoured spring 2023 release. We'll hopefully hear more from the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on 10th September.
A person familiar tells me parts of this new Assassin's Creed leak are true (such as the name and the other stuff Bloomberg has already reported: spring 23, Baghdad, back to AC basics) and other parts are not ("multiple cities to explore") https://t.co/qmM6UZtKnG
