WayForward has showcased a new trailer for its upcoming River City Girls sequel, featuring a glimpse at four-player co-op and some of the unscrupulous villains you'll face off against when River City Girls 2 launches later this year. Series villain Sabu will be making a comeback, alongside his disgraced daughter, Sabuko.

The new game will include six playable characters (Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, Riki, Provie, and Marian) to choose from, each with their own upgradeable movesets; as well as local and online co-op gameplay; RPG-style character progression; multiple routes and secrets to uncover; helpful henchmen to hire; NPCs to interact with; and “enhanced” combat.

You'll also have new weapons like Molotov cocktails, sofas, and a saxophone to clobber enemies with, while new elemental attacks, accessories, and food items flesh out your arsenal. Other enemies, meanwhile, include River City Girl Zero's snarky ‘rich boy yakuza’ Ken, and an army of goons lead by tech expert Tsuiko, “strength-enhancing chef” Primo, and “magic-wielding witch” Blaire.

English and Japanese VO, as well as an anime intro and a soundtrack from River City Girls 1 composer Megan McDuffee will also feature. River City Girls 2 launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Q4 2022.
