With NBA 2K22's cruise liner Concha Del Mar to be replaced by the ‘G.O.A.T. Boat’ (with more courts, lower waiting times, and a revamped layout) in NBA 2K23 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, 2K has announced that the City will be making a comeback for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 version of NBA 2K23, with a range of improvements.
In NBA 2K23, the City will not only be smaller and easier to traverse (thanks to Fast Travel stations), but it'll also have seamless integration with MyCareer mode, as well as an Arena venue for MyCareer games, quests, and post-game media interviews; an Event Center and Jordan Challenge Building; and relocated, revamped themed affiliation boroughs.
“The City is an incredibly authentic way for players to experience basketball culture. Tying MyCareer closely with the City lets players truly live out their career in a unique way on their journey to legendary status on and off the court,” said NBA Development VP Erick Boenisch. “Community feedback has been key in the new innovations we've added and we look forward to players experiencing everything we've brought to NBA 2K23 this year.”
You'll also find the Block in the centre of the city, where you can find all of its content within a single hub, while the Theater replaces the warehouse buildings, serving as a hub for instant matchmaking games. Every Friday, the four-event playlist will also be swapped out with new events. Dreamer Edition cover star and Grammy-nominated artist J. Cole will also have a presence in the City, with his own Dreamville Studio location.
Seasons will return to the City, too, with fresh rewards added every six weeks, available at no additional cost. You can take a look at the revamped City for NBA 2K23 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in the new trailer below. NBA 2K23 launches on 9th September.
