With the next The Witcher game announced as the beginning of “a new saga”, it should come as no surprise that developer CD Projekt RED is considering more games beyond what will almost definitely not be called The Witcher 4. In fact, it's already “thinking about” what will come next, beyond the fourth mainline chapter in the series.
"Like the first saga was three games... we are in pre-production of the first game from the second Witcher saga," CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiciński commented during the company's latest earnings report (via Eurogamer). Indeed, the Polish studio is apparently "thinking about more than one game."
Of course, The Witcher 4, aka. ‘The Next Witcher Game’, is some years away, with CD Projekt RED moving over to Unreal Engine 5, and entering its early pre-production phase this year. All we currently know is that it'll potentially centre upon the School of the Lynx, as the teaser image is a medallion shaped like… well, a lynx, obviously.
2022 seemingly won't be Witcher-free either, as CD Projekt is still planning to launch The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 during its proposed Q4 2022 slot, which you'd assume means we'll be getting a specific release date soon-ish.
