ININ Games has announced that Cannon Dancer, an arcade title from Mitchell Corp. released only in Japan and North America during the '90s, will be getting a digital release for consoles early next year. The game will receive a brand-new translation and additional features, with two key members of the original development team on board for the upcoming console port.

Original Game Designer and Strider alum Kouchi Yotsui (aka 'Isuke') and artist Takashi Kogure (aka ‘Utata Kiyoshi’) will both be lending their expertise to the console release of Cannon Dancer, known as ‘Osman’ in the US. Like Strider, Cannon Dancer is a ‘jump and run’ action game, in which you'll face the minions of an evil sorceress who wants to take over the world.

As a lone assassin named Kirin, you'll use your martial arts skills to take down enemies and bosses across six psychedelic retro stages, collecting three different types of power-up, using the new rewind function and save/load feature, should you come unstuck. Cannon Dancer is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in Q1 2023.

  • Definitely seeing the Strider DNA here. I bet it's tough as nails.
