SEGA has announced a February release date for Like a Dragon: Ishin!, the upcoming remake of the previously Japan-only PS3 and PS4 exclusive Yakuza Ishin, as well as details on digital editions of the game, available for pre-order now.
Transposing's the Yakuza series' characters to 1860s Kyo, in which Kiryu adopts the role of real-life samurai Sakamoto Ryoma, Ishin! promises “visceral combat” featuring feudal Japan-era firearms and swords. As Ryoma, you'll be able to switch between Swordsman, Gunman, Wild Dancer, and Brawler fighting styles, wielding a wide variety of period weaponry.
You'll be able to train and upgrade skills to acquire more powerful abilities, while an in-game glossary provides historical context to the people, places, and events you'll experience. Rebuilt using Unreal Engine 4, the new version of Ishin will include all-new content, remastered visuals, enhanced performance, and full localisation support.
Like a Dragon: Ishin! will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 21st February 2023, with a standard edition priced $59.99/£49.99; or Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99/£59.99, offering early access from 17th February 2023 and six DLCs expanding Ryoma's cosmetics, weapons, challenges and more.
All digital pre-orders of Like a Dragon: Ishin! will also come with the Kijinmaru Kunishige katana, Black Ship Cannons, and Tsuyano Usukurenai legendary katana DLC weapons. You can check out more than five minutes of gameplay from Like a Dragon: Ishin! below.
