In the wake of a rumour from January 2022, that Halo Infinite support studio Certain Infinity might be working on a battle royale mode for Master Chief's latest outing, recently appointed President & COO Paul Sams has offered a further tease of something that's been in the works for the last two years.

"The biggest thing we're doing that's public right now, for more than two years now we've been working on Halo Infinite doing something that - they're very prescriptive about what we can say," Sams remarked in a chat with VentureBeat (via Eurogamer). “But we're doing something unannounced, and we're doing lead development on that unannounced thing, from conception and design.”

Sams adds that the project is “something big and new for the franchise,” but stopped short in revealing anything further. “That's our single largest project of our three projects currently. We have close to 100 developers working on that,” he added.

Before any of that makes its way to Halo Infinite, however, there's the impending arrival of Campaogn Co-Op to look forward to as part of the Winter Update in November, and a Forge Beta on 8th November. Halo Infinite split-screen co-op has unfortunately been binned, though, despite some players managing to get it working.

  • This series was built on a strong single player story right from the start, the very fact that the studio in charge has failed every attempt they have had (and they have had multiple shots at it) and the "saving grace" is all these bs multiplayer modes and seasons is laughable. Halo is a laughing stock of the gaming industry now, especially after that pathetic tv series and needs to be handed to a studio that knows what they are doing, move 343 to a mobile CoD game or something.
