Richard Walker

This kitten has claws. And a big sword to slice her way through enemies. Don't be put off by her pink hair and tail, Blade Kitten's heroine, Kit Ballard is an all-round feline badass, able to use her cat-like athletic prowess to perform huge leaps to jump from platform to platform.

So far, so old-school, Blade Kitten is a cel-shaded anime platforming hack and slash XBLA game set in the lawless frontier of Hollow Wish. As a bounty hunter, Kit must make her way through 19 levels of action with her Darque Blade hovering close by her side and AI buddy Skiffy on call to help out in sticky situations.

Kit can also ride her faithful alien steed, Noot, in three of the game's exploration sections. Blade Kitten is available on the Xbox Live Arcade now for 1200 Microsoft Points. Here's the trailer again in case you missed it last week.

  • lol i had try demo and it is not bad game
  • that looks pretty fun, might have to try the trial and get some points
  • I got Alien Breed 2: Assault and it is good game but i not get blade kitten maybe get this one day in future possible deal of the week if they up to it in future. :D
  • LoL looks ok 2bh :D will play trial!
  • bob kitten ftw!
  • This actually looks pretty good. Will have to check it out and if I like it I will defo get this on DoTW in the future^^
  • More weak unimaginative jap pedophilia beastiality garbage, no thanks
  • It's a surprisingly good platformer. >_> The controls are pretty good (though not flawless, I clip often enough to gripe when moving from one climbing spot to the next) and have only game-breaking glitched once through a wall into an endless fall. Other than that, been playing all morning and it's a pretty good buy.
  • @7 This game is not by Japanese otherwise it would have been a better game. Playing as a cat girl does not make a game have anything to do with pedophilia or beastiality either. Grow up a little.
  • @9 otherwise it would have been better? LOL oh gosh you are truely blind japan makes the worst games in the industry yet little fan boys like you who want the same paper cut charectors and linear plotlines eat it up its pathetic.
  • Checked out the trophies over at ps3trophies.org. They look surprisingly....easy.
  • @10 Please think before you fart, I mean talk (couldn't tell whether you were talking out your mouth or your arse). On topic, I tried the demo and felt it was really poor so I'll be steering clear unless it gets DOW treatment as 1200 for this is way too much.
  • Hahaha Japan makes the worst games int he industry!? That is the funniest thing i ever heard. Did you start playing games yesterday?
  • @10 have you not played final fantasy 13
  • @#10 - You realize the only games that are generally not made in Japan are just sports and FPS games, yes? Then there's a handful of European games. Stop pretending Final Fantasy is the basis for every Japanese game, dude.
  • It's like Smuckers jam...with a name like Blade Kitten, it HAS to be good!
  • Alright since this site is so full of idiots lets go through a little lession. We are on a page about an action-platformer made by an Australian company. The game is not very good, and yes it would have been a better game if made by a Japanese company? Why? Because the genre was basically born and mastered there. This guy is in here talking about stupid shit like linear plotlines (probably can't even tell that those WRPGs he is playing are every bit as linear and cliche in their actual plots) even though this is an action-platformer. Some examples of all time classic action/platform games - Rocket Knight Adventures, Super Metroid, Gunstar Heroes, Super Mario Bros., Sonic(oldschool), Contra, Sunset Riders, Strider, the list goes on and on and guess what? They are all made by Japanese companies. There is a reason why Japanese games completely dominated the entire 80's, 90's and first half of 2000's. And how about the classic Western-developed action/platform games? Right, there are none. There might be a few but the number would be so small and they would not be as good as the all time classics I just listed.
  • Have I played Final Fantasy PLEASE tell me your kidding final fantasy, the exact same linear plotlines, no charector custimization, no open world to explore, no side quests or VERY few, guys that look like girls, monsters that look like they came out of a dr seus book, Those are NOT RPG's i dont know what you would call those action adventure maybe? RPG's require moral decisions that alter the plot and interactive world, charector custimization, class choice, side quests thats what an RPG is games like Baldurs gate, The elder scrolls series, Mass effect, Dragon Age, Fallout series, Even Fable though not a huge fan it does meet the criteria, japan dosnt release RPG's instead they release the exact same story with the same paper cut charectors, Example whiny bitch main charector guy that looks like a girl, girl with breasts the size of her head whos "innocent and cute" little boy who can predict the future etc. No side quests whatsoever or 1 or 2 so they can claim they have them, cant create your charector, no open world to explore just the same linear straight foward story related maps, Japan is way behind in the game industry ive been playing video games sense 1993 so this "did you start playing games yesturday" makes me wonder if you did fact of the matter is japan helped start the gameing industy but has sense been unable to keep up with real games and keeps releasing the same games with slightly better graphics and manages to stay afloat simply because of you fan boys with this retarded mentality that "if its from japan it has to be superior" buying their products its very sad and its keeping innovative underground publishers and developers from gracing us with games that are actually half decent.
  • Comment 17 = truth.
  • This game does look like good fun. Although i do understand Mr. Orc's point Japan really has released the exact same games, with better graphics over the last decade now.
  • Decided to buy it and its pretty good platformer, the dialogue is pretty cheesy and the achievements arent to bad, except for finding all the chests.
  • 1200ms points for a glorified indie game! Its a BASIC platformer! and that is giving it credit! Don't buy this, Buy ben 10 xbla game. The trial plays alot better than this rubbish! Note: i don't own ben 10. These 2 are as bad as one another. If i had to make a choice. Ben 10! BUT DONT BUY EITHER!
  • Damn Berserk Orc is such a clueless bitch with his over-generalizations of gaming. Talking shit when he doesn't know shit--welcome to the interwebs, I guess.
  • Yes Final Fantasy has the exact same plot every time. That is why every game is completely unrelated. That explains how they went from medieval settings to multiple worlds to multiple dimensions to multiple time periods to modern settings to sci-fi settings and usually blended most of those ideas together in each game. Japan started and mastered many genres and is still the king in pretty much everything they started, which does not include RPGs. RPGs started in America and there they continued to be the same retelling of Dungeons and Dragons / Lord of the Rings and Star Wars / Star Trek. Notice that the 3 most popular RPGs at this time are Dragon Age - a cliche as hell LOTR retelling. Mass Effect - A combo of Star Wars and Star Wars and Star Trek. Fallout 3 - post-apocalyptic Oblivion with many more post-apocalyptic copycats showing up shortly afterwards. FF series usually has a new battle system or character growth system in each game. Dragon Age is using the same old stuff. ME and Fallout just combine RPGs with shooters - one of the few genres that Western developers are actually good at making. Anyway this still has nothing to do with the fact that of course, a crappy action/platformer game from some Australian developer would be in much better hands from the country that has had the genre mastered for the past 25 years.
  • @7, 10, 18...Judging by the way you slander this game and others I am assuming you're about....12 years old. Maybe when you sprout your first pube your insults towards games and others may actually offend someone. I doubt it though. Keep hiding behind your keyboard and mouse.
  • @25 Agreed. Not paying 1200 for this, maybe if it was hella a lot cheaper. Maybe a get on a DotW
  • @18 I've said this many times before and I'll keep saying it forever. Not everyone likes the same thing, if it's not your particular type of game don't play it and leave it to those who do enjoy it. No one is forcing you to play, watch, or even get near to any of this. You don't like Japanese games, then don't ever buy another one for the rest of your life if that's how you feel, though I'm sure you will continue to buy their games! Main point is, if you don't like it, don't play it, if you do then great! Plain and simple!
  • I donno why everyone is hating. I picked this game up on a whim and its pretty good. The running feels a little like old school sonic the hedgehog where you start walking very slowly but once you get up to speed you are tearing the levels up. The first level alone took me 30 minutes to beat. There are a ton a ridiculous costume and weapon unlockables. Its probably the best game atari as published in a long time.
  • @#28. Lots of unlockables, eh? I think I'm interested.
  • @#18 Is just wow, theres just no reasoning with a kid like that so dont even bother, i bet he has no idea the Play Station is japanese or even Nintendo, i guess thats the kind of gamers we get who started playing on their Xbox and have no tolerance for anything japanese and cant keep all that crap to themselves.
  • Defo unlocking the full version after a great time playing the trial.
  • @10 have you ever played a capcom game
  • I just played the game for about half an hour and that was just beating first level. I was exploring a lot, but still - if the game keeps this up it will definitely be worth the price. It's simple but fun, nice graphics and it really encourages exploration.
  • I'm not one to agree with people's meatheaded comments but #18 has a lot of valid points. Yes I have played a Final Fantasy game. 7&8 and to me 8 was better, but I stopped because they are the same game over and over just different characters and better graphics. And I do agree that the RPG's he mentioned are far better (except Fable, that game sucks. It caters to kiddies.). So before all you people dump on someones opinion of something try reading the comments. He speaks a lot of truth in it, typical fanboys will disagree as they always do. To me fanboys aren't even gamers, they are one step from being psychotic. Just my opinion
  • This is the best XBLA game released in 2010 so far. Really great game, especially if you grew up playing sidescrollers in the 16bit era. Tons to explore and discover.
  • declaw it!
  • Berserk Orc is a 'tard. Japan has made some great RPGS (though the one they are most famous for, Final Fantasy, is sucking nowadays). Hey, you know what has the same, linear plotline with the same kind of characters in every part of their game? Shooters! Gears of War! Halo! I bet that the Japanese make fun of the western world for having characters that have muscles the size of of their head. Do not force your retarded definition of a RPG onto other people. Japan makes some great RPGs, probably more so then the Western gaming industry, but they both have made FAAAARRRRRR different types of RPGs. How can you compare games like Fallout or Baldur's Gate to Final Fantasy or Suikoden (or Dragon Quest 9)? They are nothing alike. They cater to different people, simply based on a culture difference. And lol, he called games like Final Fantasy "action-adventure". AAHHAHAHHAHA! Also, I'd like to point out one thing. He said that "they keep releasing the same game". That's what the whole industry does. It's a business. If they make games that loads of loads of people will buy, why would they make different games? That's the reason Bungie wasn't allowed to make anything un-Halo-related for a long time; people didn't want a different game, they wanted some FUCKING HALO!!1!!!! Yes, there are different types of games (such as Blade Kitten!), but games such as these are made by smaller teams, and thus, are made on a smaller budget. If investors want to make a profit, they will make games that are known to make profits.
  • @ Berserk Orc Please, for the love of God, go back to second grade and learn about a little something we normal people call "punctuation". It will make your tiny little world so much larger. When you're done, go through every other grade so that you can learn how to spell. Then we can have a serious discussion about video games, and we can teach you how little you actually know. @ topic This game looks somewhat interesting, but in the end I can't get myself interested. If this game was created Metroidvania style, I'd be all over it, but I'm not super excited for the whole "19 levels" thing.
  • This game is not bad, but I don't know if having it at 1200 MSP is worth the money. I think I might wait until is DotW before I purchase it.
  • looks, uhm, uber gay. but it looks realy fun too xD if this will be a dotw i will probebly get it :P
  • This is probably one of the worst arcade games i have ever played on the 360 :). @39 no it should be 200msp instead would be more fair :).
  • Looks ok I guess but not paying 1200 for it lol. I would rather pick up Dead Rising Case Zero for 400! That's a winner!
  • Orc's right, JRPGs blow. Seen one dude with spiky hair with a sword the size of his body, you've seen them all. The idea of character development is limited to solely points in columns, no choices/morality. Sure, it was great in 1995, but we're 15 years on and the same recycled game mechanics (like all the variations on limit break/overcharge/etc) are no longer the be-all end-all they once where.
  • @43 ... Oh wait....columns and numbers... reminds me of something called FALLOUT. Everyone sings the praises of this wonderful game, but in all honesty the graphics were terrible for a 360 game, once again a western game with the unrelatable silent protagonist (which last time I checked was old even when I played the NES) at least in Japanese RPG's they have characters who you can relate with, and there is some level of emotional connection. However with games like Fallout, Baldur's Gate there is absolutely none!
  • Couldn't care less about the game, this thread is much better entertainment and it didn't cost me anything!
  • Action platformer thread about JRPGs, huh? Well I've played about 12 JRPGs to the 75% mark, and about 5 actually ever got finished. JRPGs started to boast game length, which while it was a nicety such that we wouldn't spend $50 on a weekend endeavor, it actually hurt it because the games would either move really slow, or indeed the story would be replicate of another JRPG I've already played. The plot mechanisms are extremely droll across all of the current generation games out at the present, and the story is really all these games have going for them. As it is now, "JRPG" encompasses less of a genre, and more of a unified game experience. If you liked one, you will want to try another and so on until you just get tired of them like me.
  • And I feel the need to put it out there that ever since the anime art-style has been used with cartoons that aren't even japanese, such as Batman? I really despise it.
  • Seems like an interesting game
  • I just saw that this is now on special for 800msp.
