Thanks for the reminder and heads up about the DLC for the first. The gold edition is nigh-on impossible to find at a reasonable price. Think I'll pick all this up then just buy the games later on.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 06:51 AM
Just got MU2 through the post today from lovefilm, so talk about good timing :DFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 06:52 AM
Just when I think Activision can't get any worse.....BAAAAAAM!!! They shove this news up are ass. Well time to go buy some points.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 06:55 AM
Actually I'm not going to buy points. Fuck them I'm not giving them 10 bucks for this. Double post sorry : (Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:04 AM
fuck it im not bein put under pressure by activision...mean peopleFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:05 AM
Honestly, after playing the first, i thought i was done with Marvel Ultimate Alliance... Then i played the demo for Marvel 2, and at that point i was certain i would never play the sequel. Such potential wasted. Hope they don't even try to make a third...Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:09 AM
Thanks for the info, didn't know the DLC for the first part was up, too.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:37 AM
Pretty sweet you guys keep up with all this and remember to post em in a timely fashion. Probably doesn't help that you get email bombarded though. xD That aside, this is why people are fearful of a future with nothing but DLC, multiplayer lobbies and games without physical disks. This isn't something that will be discontinued but can be bought on eBay or a thrift ship later. This is actual content...missions that, even though are optional, are being removed. It raises the question that in a gaming industry focusing on nothing but multiplayer at this point it seems like, what happens in four years when the company decides to shut down that games servers? You're left with a half assed story and a multiplayer that no longer works. And in the coming future, when games are more focused than they are now on being downloaded only? What happens if someone misses out on a classic and wants to go back? Who's to say I won't want to play Braid, Castle Crashers or my downloaded version of Alan Wake in 10 years, like I can still plug in my SNES to play Super Mario RPG only to find a file is corrupted, but I can't go redownload them? It's a tiny start, but the more you look into it the sadder it gets, honestly.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:38 AM
Dang it, i really need to stop spending money. Here's hoping Santa brings me points for Christmas!Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:45 AM
I have both DLC already but it's worth it IMO if you don't have them already and are a fan of the game. The 1st game was actually the better of the two, should have offered so many more playable characters in the 2nd that they didn't (Hercules, hello) plus only one bonus costume / skin per character? C'Mon...Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:48 AM
@ 6 - The second was vastly improved. I LOVED The Civil War angle even thought they missed a few beats to tie stories together but all in all, I loved it. Grabbed the DLC but sold the game out of frustration. Will pick it back up when possible and beast out that junk.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:54 AM
The first was way more funFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:07 AM
so i have til 12/31/10 to get 1250 in the sequal? bleeping great...Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:09 AM
Cool, didn't realise the first DLC was on the market place too, finished up the second one already, so even if I don't get all the achievements so long as I buy the DLC before it gets delisted I can go back to it? Sweet, that was one I thought I'd never 100%.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:14 AM
#13 no, they mean you have until then to buy the contentFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:26 AM
Bullshit, wont touch that fucking game.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:36 AM
If I've not 1000+ the first game, and the cheevies drop, does that mean I'll never get the additional points from it even with the DLC? :-(Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:40 AM
@ 17 As long as you have the DLC (even after it's delisted), you will be able to achieve 1250 in whichever game you bought it for.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:41 AM
17 the cheevies will not be removed just the content that is requiredFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 08:53 AM
@#8 I see your point but with everything in your download history being saved if you have a courrupted file you can always redownload. So I don't see that being a problem. Honestly to me with the digital distribution I don't see it taking off as long as they have prices as high as they do. For example Call of Duty 2 is $19.99. Why would I pay that much for a game I can get off of Ebay for around $10.00. I might think about paying that price if it included all DLC for the game. Or even Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for $15.00 I picked up a new sealed copy off of ebay for $7.00. Now one might argue convience of not having to go out to the store or search Ebay. I for one will gladly search the internet or the store for a better deal on a physical copy.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 09:05 AM
Good news for peeps that actually play and enjoy this. Thanks for heads up^^Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 09:06 AM
i dnt care for the 250g.....1000g will do if i ever get thisFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 10:01 AM
How is the dlc in the gold edition set up? Download code, physical disc, or Built into the game disc?Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 10:31 AM
I thought I had lost this forever! I want it! Never seen a Gold Edition, so i suppose it's not out here...Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 10:32 AM
Gold edition has the DLC already on the disc. No download or install required. I got the gold edition for like $18 or something back in August. I bet prices are a little higher now.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 10:33 AM
As far as I recall, MUA2 isn't getting a gold edition due to them not supporting DLC past this year.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 11:02 AM
So if I don't download the DLC for MUA2 and I get the original 1000G, will it show that I have completed the game or will the extra 250G still be missing on my xbox profile?Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 11:06 AM
it's so dumb they're taking this down. why would they? not like they're losing money on it or taking up server space. stupid move.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 11:25 AM
@#8 As long as you have the same gsmertag you can redownload the content if it's corrupt, whether activision still has the contract or not. Via your download history even things that have been removed from the marketplace can still be downloaded. Great example would be Double Dragon....Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 11:42 AM
@ 27 - Sadly I think that since the Achievements will be still be visible, chances are that if you 1000/1000 it and haven't thrown it back in since, that extra 250 will show up regardless. It's b/c they're still "active" to the people who have the DLC so it's going to show up. I got over this a while ago from other games I 1000/1000 but then they added DLC so I went and bought it to try to re-100% and slowly realized I was wasting money.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 12:18 PM
The first game's dlc has been up? I thought they only brought back the second's DLC!!! Wtf!? Okay, looks like I'll get this, as I won't shell out for the Gold Edition.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 12:33 PM
@28, it has nothing to do with server space, it is all about licensing issues. Activision didn't create the Marvel characters, so thry have to renew a license in order to make profit off of the characters. I've heard since Disney bought Marvel, there have been difficulties with licensing agreements.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 12:48 PM
Licenses for games and their add-on content should never run out, this is an issue game publishers will have to start thinking about asap. M$ should implement a rule that content should not come with a purchase timetable.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 01:07 PM
agreed #33 now i wanted these both games before but was short handed money now it seems i will need to buy the dlc fast then the games later on lol.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 01:08 PM
Meh, I thought about it, but I just can't justify paying $20 for content in a game I don't own and may or may not ever get around to playing. If I do, I'll just have to live with a partial score. C'est la vie.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 02:22 PM
Screw this! The DLC should be FREE seeing as it's being removed for good.Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 04:46 PM
This is nonsense. What is the reason it is being removed for good? This makes me hate Activision even more. So of someone ever buys those games in the future and doesn't have the DLC they will never be able to max the game out?Friday, December 17, 2010 @ 05:04 PM
already doneFriday, December 17, 2010 @ 07:20 PM
Thanks for the heads up.Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 04:31 AM
Thanks to #18 & 19, was a bit worried about that :-)Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 09:15 AM
thanks for the headsup, got both of them finally, since it will never COME BACKSaturday, December 18, 2010 @ 06:03 PM
My kids are playing the game at this very moment... hmmm ... I think I'm in for downloading.Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 07:19 PM
Cool. I know you can buy the gold edition of marvel ultimate alliance but it's actually cheaper this way.Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 07:33 PM
If content existed, then it should be allowed to exist regardless of what happens with the companies. And if it's going out, they should at least give it a huge discount, more people would buy it. Charging full price at this point is just sad.Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 07:37 PM
Also @20 and 29, If the content is unable to be downloaded off of xbox live, then you will not be able to redownload it if it is corrupted. Because it is gone from the severs that hosted it and it is no long in existence.Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 09:35 PM
Does anyone know if i can download it from europe with an us-account?Saturday, December 18, 2010 @ 09:50 PM
I was debating getting the extra content, but then decided to just do it, since I like the offered characters and have only a few times before been able to play as Magneto (X-Men Legends II, Marvel-related fighting games). I don't think I'll be disappointed.Sunday, December 19, 2010 @ 12:14 AM
@20 & 29 - He's saying in 10+ years. When the 360 is 2 generations old. What would you do then? Chances are it won't be available for download anymore so if it corrupts, you cant replace it. I realize those chances may be low but at the same time they are possible. I've spent around $150 on arcade games and to lose them permanently at any point in time whether it be in 10 years or 50 years would not be cool. OT: I have the first MUA but I don't like it too much. I'm still gonna beat it but the DLC is out of the question for me. Over priced anyways. they should have dropped it low. Woulda got more sales.Sunday, December 19, 2010 @ 10:24 AM
Anyone with the Gold Edition should hold onto it. Could be worth a bit in the future to collectors.Sunday, December 19, 2010 @ 12:41 PM
that sucksSunday, December 19, 2010 @ 01:41 PM
@46 Yes, that's possible. You need 800 US Microsoft Points though.Monday, December 20, 2010 @ 07:52 PM
For those moaning, saying it should be kept up: Activision won't legally be allowed to sell it, as they won't have a licence. They'd end up in court and would lose.Friday, December 31, 2010 @ 05:09 PM
I want to get the sim packs for Ultimate Alliance 2, but will feel like a fool if they have a "last chance" sale tomorrow.Monday, July 04, 2011 @ 03:44 PM
I just bought this game so I hope these come back
Friday, December 17, 2010
First it was gone, then it came back and soon it will be gone again. As previously reported, the DLC for both Marvel Ultimate Alliance games will be delisted from the marketplace for good starting January 1st, 2011 as Activision has decided not to renew their licenses to the Marvel characters. The full 1250 in the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance will always still be attainable via the Gold edition of the game (if available in your region), though its sequel will soon drop to 1000 achievable as it was confirmed by Vicarious Visions that part deux will not receive the same treatment.
As a bonus, the DLC for the first game has been put back up until the promotion ends. Your best bet is to grab the Playable Hero/Villain Pack Combo Deal for 800 MSP or grab them individually for 480 MSP each if for some reason you already had one, or only want half the achievements. You can of course also grab the Character & Sim Mission Pack (800 MSP) and Juggernaut Playable Character (160 MSP) for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Only the Character & Sim Pack is needed for the achievements in MUA2, but Juggy is a beast and makes the game much simpler on the whole; very much worth the extra two bucks.
Again, all the DLC mentioned above will be forever delisted at the end of the year, so grab it now while you can if you still need to finish up either game, or plan to in the future.
