It's an Unsurprising Assassin's Creed Revelation as Altair Surfaces

Yet another piece in the ongoing Assassin's Creed: Revelations teaser campaign has been revealed today, with a Twitter post from Ubisoft UK, promising "a "new" face to recognise today..." And that so-called 'new' face looks to be Altair, which is hardly unexpected.

A second date has also popped up in the latest part of the teaser, with 11.01.1165 flickering up for a split second. A cursory glance at the date on Wikipedia shows that events of significance in that year included Byzantine Emperor Andronicus I escaping from prison and Pope Alexander III entering Rome, but more fittingly, it also notes that 1165 was the year the the Muslims took Caesarea Philippi from the Crusaders.

Could the next Assassin's Creed game have something to do with this particular event? It would certainly fit in with Altair's story. A closer look at the video also reveals the eagle symbol associated with Altair, indicating that the assassin is almost certain to play some role in the next AC.

  • This is getting stranger and stranger.
  • interesting, looking forward to it full reveal
  • I can't wait until they finally come out and announce this game, n which I have a feeling they will at this years E3.
  • id like to see altair again, so both protagonists have 2 games each. And some of you have to admit, you only hated Altair because if he did fall into a small pond going to die! n_n
  • E3 will be the real reveal. Altair it is then. So you have AC/AC2/AC:B/AC:R - Altair second chapter - hopefully lead on to AC3. Then it would be good to venture out to loads of different places - each year a different assassin.:) -China/Japan/Egypt
  • Yes, I absolutely loved Altair. Bland as a character, but then again he was only ever meant to be a pure bad ass, so I didn't think it really mattered. Ezio was just a pompous douche, which fortunately slightly went away in Brotherhood. Therefore, I think it all goes down to opinion. Only reason why when you went in a puddle and you got desynchronized, was mainly due to Altair propably never went in water (I don't think they had swimming lessons back then, maybe I'm wrong).
  • I hope we play as Scott Stapp to finally give the "creed" half of the title a bit more relevance.
  • And the award for the best tease goes to... Ubisoft! I love the whole series, every game has led me to rage at the ending because I hate cliffhangers, which was partly the reason why I stopped watching EastEnders. However, if there's one thing Ubisoft could do for me... No multiplayer in this next one thank you.
  • Sry, but the number is actually Altairs birthdate and the eagle: "Double-headed eagle emblem of the Byzantine Empire. The head on the left (West) symbolizes Rome, the head on the right (East) symbolizes Constantinople." It's a hint for Istanbul (Constantinople)
  • Altair used the apple to live forever, duh
  • @10 I was under the impression that his grave was found in AC2.
  • @8 -You were being sarcastic, right ? Dude who watches EastEnders?! lol - It's one of the things that put a shame on being English! lol
  • @ 4 - Altair has also appeared in Bloodlines and Altairs Chronicles But I agree that I'd much rather him get his own full Brotherhood style game.
  • @7, the name is totally relevant, at least for the first game. It starts with Altair breaking all three tenants of the Assassin's Creed, and then you spend the rest of the game reproving your honor. With the II and Brotherhood, you still abide by the creed, but it's not the major focus. I'd be amazed if we don't get a reveal prior to E3. With the week long teasing going on I'll be surprised if they don't reveal it tomorrow. I'm not expecting any gameplay footage, but maybe a trailer and some minor details.
  • I think the new Assassin will be someone from before Altair's time. Think about it, in the first trailer they showed Ezio's Birthdate, in this one they show Altair's, presumably the next trailer would continue the trend of going backwards and be one of Altair's ancestors?
  • YES! Alta "F*cking" ir! If the story is just as good as the first one and the multiplayer is improved, this will be a contender for GOTY.
  • @14, nothing will ever be as relevant as performing a dive from a highpoint while blasting "my sacrifice."
  • Anyone notice how the eagle seems to be holding the apple of eden?
  • Over saturation point is reached for me.
  • Sweet.. Altair
  • cant be FUCKED with any more altair, he had his shot. imo he was really boring and that we need a new assassin. how many games has altair had? including psp exclusives etc. ezio has had at least 3 by now with the psp game too. bring in new assassins! altair was badass but seriously he had the personality of a wet fish
  • Assassin's Creed Bratton: Corporate Assassination
  • Actually it's two-headed eagle and it represents the national emblem (coat of arms as some would say) of pre- and post-Soviet Russia. You can wiki it if you want. Intrigued more than ever!
  • I could not care any less about all this teasing. I'm gonna get it when it comes out. this "teasing" isn't making me want it anymore.
  • could 11/01 be a release date?...Im so pumped!
  • Maybe we'll play as more than one assassin.
  • So is anyone piecing all these snippets together into one longer vid? That would be cool to see.
  • I like the way #26 thinks. It could be a very interesting means of story progression if both Assassin's are experiencing things that are connected, but they have no idea how, but it makes perfect sense for Desmond. My imagination is running way too wild with this.
  • I honestly hope that this game involves Altair at some stage. I loved that period of history and the conspiracies and controversies that surround it.
  • Great, a trilogy that already has 4 titles (so far). I would liek to just finish the story, because as much as I enjoy the game, I think that they are just concentrating too much on what happened in between....
  • Well, I'm sure this didn't come as a surprise to most. I'm hoping that he isn't water-soluble in this game, though.
  • To be honest I was more excited with the rumors going around. - A ninja in Japan - A woman in WWI/WWII - A revolutionary during the French Revolution All sounded really interesting . . . and then it turns out to just be Altair again :(
  • "A new face" I'm sorry but can someone explain to me who the fuck Altair is a new face? We've seen him before. I was expecting a new assassin.
  • Altair FTW!
  • Wait wasn't Altair in 1191 in AC1? So how could you play as Altair? Unless he was like 50 something in the first one, and if so he's a freaking beast,
  • Hmm, both assassins and maybe a co-op?
  • Has anyone read this? http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/05/05/acrcoverrevealjune.aspx The link is in the facebook page so it is accurate. It says we'll play as Altair, Ezio and Desmond, so I guess the reason for the birth dates is explained. I wish it would a Altair or Altair/Desmond story only, showing how Altair got to use the armor we unlock for Ezio in the AC2 and some other things that got revealed about his life.
  • could it be set in the crusades again? me likey could it be to do with byzantium? i hope so, please please please let me climb the hagia sophia!
  • Nice to see Altair, but where's Assassins Creed 3?
  • It'd be rather interesting to see a female assassin. I've always found it weird to play Brotherhood's multiplayer as a female character (the courtesan ftw), to be playing Assassin's Creed, doing leaps of faith and free running over rooftops as someone who looks so different from Desmond/Altair/Ezio, and I never get used to it no matter how much MP I play. So yeah, female assassin please, at least for a sequence or two.
  • Henry VI's birth date I think.
