New Dark Souls LevelUp Screens Surface

New screenshots for Dark Souls have emerged from Namco Bandai's LevelUp conference in Dubai, showing more of the game's gloomy dungeon-trawling action that's set to have you tearing your hair out in gleeful frustration (yes, we know that's a massive oxymoron) when it releases later this year.

Showing some of the game's towering bosses, traps and smaller minions that you'll be facing, these new screens clearly indicate that Dark Souls is every bit the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls that it promises to be, with labyrinthine catacombs and fearsome foes aplenty.

Further to yesterday's report, the Dark Souls Limited Edition is also available for no extra charge in Europe if you pre-order, with an art book, game guide, and soundtrack and making of discs, all packaged in an exclusive folded limited edition box. You can check out what it looks like below. Rather tasty, we think you'll agree.

Check out twelve new images from Dark Souls in the gallery and keep your blade primed and ready for the game's release in early October 2011.

  • Man this is going to be one of the best games this year along with the other great games for release this year. Demon's Souls was incredible.
  • WOW. That last screenshot is making me quake. Can't wait!
  • Good luck with the 1000g guys lol.
  • ohh yeh! cant wait. demon souls was awesome!
  • HAHAHA Also sorry for the second post but I love how this game is going to be so hard that they feel the need to give you a game guide in the limited edition. The link doesn't work for me. =(
  • day one buy
  • I'm pre-ordering this next week. This is as close as I'm getting to Monster Hunter on the Xbox 360.
  • Can't wait, I've been waiting for this since I heard about Demon's Souls! Though I heard on Kotaku that the Special Edition wasn't region exclusive, or it wasn't mentioned that it was. Here's hoping!
  • @9 As a general rule, don't trust ANYTHING said on Kotaku. Even stuff you know to be 100% true. Anyway, can't wait for this. Demon Souls is IMO one of the best games of this generation, and undoubtedly the hardest. So I am expecting a lot from Dark Souls because of this.
  • Now this is what a pre-order bonus should be like. I can happily say that i'm a european customer buying this game. :)
  • I am new to the party on this. Is this mostly a puzzler game? Based on some of the comments that is what I am getting. Anyone?
  • It's funny. If this were a game like God of War, those giant monsters would literally be of no worry. In THIS game, they can 1 shot you, and WILL 1 shot you. I LOVE IT!
  • I really want this game it looks really good. But I'm scared... Should I try?
  • Lol, Joe Esposito - "You're The Best Around" came on as I was reading the article. Seems humorously appropriate for this game. XD Totally looking forward to Dark Souls. Hopefully a game that can bring the Demon's Souls experience to the 360, even a harder one, as long as the challenge is genuine, not cheap or lazy programming, and the rewards are worth the difficulty. Would really like to know more about the coop options. Heard it was odd stuff, like singleplayer choices affect who you can pair up with online/coop making it so if you and a friend made different decisions that you couldn't play WITH each other, just against. Hope that isn't the case.
  • I thought they said they would have lower difficulties as well this time around? This looks badasss - most companies would charge $20 extra for so much content and here you get it with preorder. Now that's how you make me intersted. Hope they will do the same for US:-)
  • I loved Demon's Souls and I've already pre-ordered my Dark Souls limited edition on 360 for £35! Oh how I love Shopto! Really can't wait for this game now, one of my most anticipated games of 2011!
  • Oh and if this Dark Souls limited was European only, it'd be even better, for once we get to one-up America.
  • This and Gears of War 3 are the only ones that were worth the money to pre-order in my opinion.
  • @19 really? Not Skyrim? Were you dropped on your head as a baby?
