Xbox Game Pass $1 Trial Offer Has Come to an End

Microsoft has brought its long-running $1 Xbox Game Pass offer to an end, as the platform holder is now “evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future”.

The Xbox Game Pass trial offered a month's subscription for $1/£1/€1, after which point, users could continue or cancel their membership. Xbox issued a statement to The Verge (via VGC), confirming that the offer has now ceased.

“We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future,” said Kari Perez, Head of Global Communications at Xbox.

And despite speculation that Xbox Game Pass prices could be set to increase, as Microsoft looks to seal its Activision Blizzard acquisition deal (amid ongoing scrutiny by the UK Competition and Markets Authority), that's apparently not the case.

“Game Pass prices will not increase as a result of the Merger, and certainly will not increase to a point that offsets the substantial benefits of Activision titles coming to Game Pass on a day and date basis,” Microsoft assured. “This is especially so given Game Pass will continue to be constrained by B2P [buy to play].”

As for what will replace the $1 Xbox Game Pass trial offer, that's currently unknown. Perhaps we'll find out soon.
